hi Chris - well not yet got my ID etc or done anything much - but have been asked to assist with some stuff being developed - so early days yet
- but have known a few of the members for many years so its more a case of how they can use me - as with my mobility problems and poorish eyesight ( caused by stroke ) - i am not up to running around any more still the brains OK - its just the body that needs a total rebuild ( i wish ) guess i will be a sort of "tactical reserve " ( read last best hope ) .roflmao but i STILL make a MEAN cup of tea - years of practice in the fire service don't you know - in fact reached "instructor grade " in the subject , but wasted on most of the chaps as they would not know their earl grey from their Assam ![]() best ![]() Brett G6URM |

well so far so good - been on a few events - been picked up and delivered back home - been cursing the name "raynet" the next day when the arthritis got its revenge
- but not too bad on the whole - met some nice folks and have gotten out of the house - which is good as otherwise i would probably have been staring at the walls ,the TV , or the cat - ideal for a socially isolated person such as myself
some events i simply have to demure on as all nighters or very long ones can be too much - but the GC realises that - the rest its just a question of hitting the pain killers prior to the event as to those of you who can only operate from home - have a look at the raynet "hf " team - may be an option ??
the thing is to realise ones limitations - so long as you don't attempt to do what you SHOLD know you cant do - there will be a job that needs doing and one can feel that you are of some use also don't be afraid to speak up and "remind ' people of your limitations - as some have little concept OF the limitations that disability can impose ( mind you that's universal in society )
having said that so far .............

And of course, all disabled amateurs should bear in mind the support available from the RAIBC.
